on and off2025

How can the unknown and the collective come together?

How can an emotion trigger something and dissolve it at the same time?

How much closeness can we tolerate and allow?

The choreographic work that Daniela Georgieva has conceived for the choir room of St John's Church is about entering a space, lingering, listening and perceiving collectivity differently. Martin Pfeifle designed the installation for this: an oversized circle that looks both delicate and heavy. The performers keep moving it and repositioning it in the space. The circle also invites the audience to be part of a circle.

The performers use gestures and language to give the church space a different structure and form, as well as to perceive and experience the voices differently in this context. In some moments, the choreography seems very fleeting, but also profound and allows the visitors to become part of a shared choreography.

The electronic music designed for this, which interacts in time with the steps and speech, has a very spherical effect. It plays the whole time in the church space and provides a certain moment of calm. As a result, the installation and sound can also be perceived on their own.
